Discussion:
A cold front associated with low pressure to the north will swing through the region today, bringing in a surge of moisture and instability to the region. This will allow numerous thunderstorms to develop primarily west of the Mississippi River during the late morning and early afternoon before forming a broken line of storms by late afternoon. Damaging straight-line winds and a few tornadoes will be the dominant threats as storms travel east through the lower Mississippi Valley into this evening, through a couple instances of large hail are also possible as storms initiate around midday. Storms should eventually weaken over eastern Mississippi, southeast Louisiana, and western Alabama later this evening as they encounter a more stable air mass.</pre>
